Business Philosophy

At U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions around the globe, the primary landmark and center for communications, emergency command and control, and regional security is known as "Post One."  This post is manned 24/7, 365 days per year by U.S. Marines who provide security for personnel, classified material, and U.S. property.  They support the Diplomatic Security Services' Regional Security Officer in maintaining a safe environment in some of the world's harshest conditions.  We take our name from this legendary landmark, and strive to serve our clients with the highest standards of expertise and professionalism.

Post One Global provides both domestic and international security consulting services.  We encourage our clients to be actively and realistically involved in their own safety.  In the United States, Americans tend to believe that bad things won't happen to them, their families, their communities, or their businesses.  On September 11, 2001, all that changed.  On April 15, 2013, the national conscience was shocked again by the horror of the Boston Marathon Bombing.  Less than three years later it was San Bernardino.  Too frequently, gunman have raged through schools and places of worship from Sandy Hook to Parkland, and Poway to Pittsburgh.  Nightclubs in Florida and concerts in Las Vegas have been savagely attacked.  If nothing horrible has been reported on the news today, wait until tomorrow.

Workplace violence is a common occurrence across the country.  Local crime can strike anywhere at anytime.  Soft targets are particularly vulnerable.  However, too many targets are soft only because those who have the responsibility for target hardening often have their head in the sand.  Many businesses in healthcare, education, and information technology see Cyber Security as their primary concern, and are willing to invest in complex anti-intrusion projects to protect information.  Many of those same companies pay little or no attention to the physical security of their people, property, and other assets.  A cyber breach may mean you lose information or revenue.  That may result in a disaster for your company and adversely impact many people.  However, information can be gathered again, and revenue can be regenerated.  A breach in your physical security can cost you your lives.

Domestic businesses have a responsibility to protect not only physical and intellectual property, but the lives and well-being of the people who they employ every day.  A comprehensive security plan not only protects against the worst of disasters, but helps to insulate business from liability with regard to less dramatic events such as workplace accidents, medical emergencies, crimes against property, and general safety.

Operating in distressed areas of the world is a challenge for even the most experienced international corporations.  Those who work in these areas often find it difficult to exist - much less flourish - in these environments.  From terrorism and crime to religious animosities, those who have roots in the West are ofttimes shocked at local conditions that are, in fact, cultural norms.  Sanitation, legal structures, and the prevalence of domestic violence can jar Western sensibilities.  In many areas of the world, political chaos and public corruption are part and parcel to the way the country operates.  Corruption and deceit pervade some societies, and in some cases are looked upon as virtues.  The local work ethic may be marginal or non-existent causing a loss of production.  The concept of efficiency may seem to have never been introduced to the society.

Horror stories abound about travelers being assaulted, murdered, raped, and robbed.  Countless credit cards have been compromised because travelers used an internet WiFi service at an airport or hotel.  Luggage is frequently ransacked or stolen in foreign airports or when being transported to hotels and other accommodations.  Drug runners may switch ID tags on baggage to facilitate smuggling.  In some countries, hotel rooms of foreign guests are routinely bugged with audio and video surveillance devices by both criminal cartels and intelligence services.  Blackmail schemes are directed at visitors by exposing them to compromising moral and legal situations.  Female visitors have had their food and drink spiked leading to rape and kidnapping.  Police corruption is normal in some countries.  Routinely, hotels and public buildings lack running water, flush toilets, and reliable electrical supplies.  Eating the local food or consuming anything other than bottled water may lead to severe gastrointestinal distress including e. coli and cholera.  These things are not Third-World urban legends.  They are routine.  More alarming, because of open borders and the mass influx of refugees from Syria and other countries, European nations are so plagued with terrorist violence and immigrant crime that it has become the new normal, and much of it goes either unreported or under-reported.

Americans and Europeans living and working in emerging countries tend toward giving the local population the benefit of the doubt.   Some even "go native" - often to their personal and professional detriment.  Therefore, our business approach is to instill a healthy sense of caution in our clients, provide a truthful and realistic evaluation of what they can expect working in another country, and help them navigate the pitfalls they may encounter.  In order to convey the true flavor of the local conditions,  we are direct in our delivery and we don't sugar coat anything.  Politically correct thinking can easily lead not only to lost revenue, but to injury or death anywhere at any time.  This is especially true outside the Western world.

Whether in the relative safety and comfort of the United States or in a distressed nation across the globe, our clients need to have an accurate understanding of their security situation free from feelings and based on facts.

At Post One, our recommendations are based on accurate information, assessed intelligence, and established fact patterns.  If there is a situation that is beyond our scope or expertise, we will tell you and refer you to a source of help.

Our core business philosophy is Truth.
